Dr. Syed Ali Tawfik Al-Attas has been reappointed Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia, (IKIM) Director General for a two year term. The appointment was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi effective from June, 1 2007 until June, 1 2009.
Dr. Syed Ali, 42, was first appointed as IKIM Director-General in June 1, 2005.
Dr. Syed Ali said the Institute would intensify its activities to create a better understanding of Islam for all.
Dr. Syed Ali holds a Doctorate in Islamic Science and Thought and a master’s degree in Biology, from the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Syed Ali is IKIM’s third Director-General.
IKIM was established on the 18th. of February 1992 with the task of representing the true understanding of Islam through various programs, namely research, seminars, workshops, forums, consultation, training and publications.
